

This past Monday I stopped to see the boatbuilders McClave, Philbrick & Giblin of Mystic, Connecticut. These fellows are traditional wooden boatbuilders and experts at what they do. They are in the process of putting a new housetop on NY32, #9, Salty. While some might be tempted to use marine plywood, they are doing it to the original plans which calls out 7/8" white cedar, which is tongue and grooved and covered in canvas.

Note the soaker hose running around the perimeter of the boat and under a plastic tarp to keep her hydrated.
